NEW YORK — The Dallas Wings called the name of Azzi Fudd first at the 2026 WNBA Draft. The 5'11 guard from UConn, repeated the Wings good fortune with number one picks. Fudd is the seventh UConn player to go first overall and reunites with former teammate, Paige Bueckers.

Fudd closed her college career exactly how she'd drawn it up. In 39 starts as a graduate student, she averaged 17.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 2.5 steals while shooting 48.1% from the field and a nation-leading 44.7% from three (117 made threes).

She was AP and WBCA First-Team All-American, led the Huskies to a 38-1 record, and carried them back to the Final Four before they fell to South Carolina in the national semifinal.

After battling injuries early in her career and winning the 2025 national title as tournament MOP, this senior season was her masterpiece - the one where she finally stayed healthy and became the best shooter in the country.

Dallas GM Curt Miller calls her "the complete package: elite shooter, playmaker, and competitor who's ready to step in and win right away."

For Fudd, it's the perfect full-circle ending in Storrs and the start of something bigger in Texas. If her college trajectory is any indication, the Wings just landed their next franchise cornerstone.
