The Cincinnati Bengals opened the season with a 33-27 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, getting four turnovers from Baker Mayfield and turning three first-half fumbles into touchdowns. Joe Burrow completed 25 of 35 passes for 254 yards, one touchdown and one interception, while Mayfield threw for 216 yards and added a rushing touchdown for Tampa Bay.
Cincinnati built a 24-10 halftime lead behind a defense that repeatedly put pressure on Mayfield. Demetrius Knight Jr. returned a fumble 27 yards for a touchdown, while Mike Gesicki caught a 2-yard touchdown pass and Chase Brown scored on a 5-yard run. Evan McPherson added four field goals, including kicks from 55 and 58 yards, as Cincinnati held off Tampa Bay's late push.
Cincinnati travels to Houston to face the Texans in Week 2 on Sept. 20. Tampa Bay hosts the Cleveland Browns that afternoon
