Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin will continue their dramatic fighting chapter in a rematch September 15 in Las Vegas. The two sides have come to an agreement to make the biggest fight in boxing.
Alvarez, (49-1-2, 34 KOs) is boxing's biggest draw with unique charisma and boxing IQ -- the key to the Middleweight division. The last time he stepped into a ring the result was a draw with Gennady Golovkin.
Golovkin, (38-0, 34 KOs) is the reigning Middlweight Champion, coming off a knockout victory over Vanes Martirosyan. GGG's promoter, Tom Loeffler said, “It wasn’t about money. We had the deal lined up with Saunders to unify the titles in the fall. Luckily, Golden Boy and Canelo accepted that.”
Golden Boy and Team GGG went back and forth after GGG demanded 50-percent of the fight purse. Golden Boy issued a deadline to Golovkin to accept their offer. In the end, the sides have come to a deal that will place the rematch in Las Vegas, September 15th.
