The Atlanta Dream will open the playoffs against the Washington Mystics after finishing fourth at 30-14 and securing home court in the first round. Atlanta closed the regular season with an 83-65 win over New York, led by Allisha Gray’s 24 points and Naz Hillmon’s 16. Washington finished 28-16 after beating Chicago 101-93, with Sonia Citron scoring 21 points and Kiki Iriafen adding 16 points and 15 rebounds.
The Dream’s biggest question entering the series is the status of Angel Reese, who left Wednesday’s victory after taking a hit to the face while drawing an offensive foul. Reese finished with six points and six rebounds and did not return. She averaged 16.4 points, 12.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists during the regular season, while Gray averaged 19.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists.
Washington enters the matchup having won seven of its final eight games and 16 of its last 19. Shakira Austin averaged 16.8 points, 9.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists for the Mystics, while the team also became the first Washington squad since 2019 to reach 28 regular-season victories.
Game 1 is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 27, in Atlanta as part of the WNBA’s first-round quadrupleheader. The series is a best-of-three, with the Dream holding home-court advantage and the league’s Game 1 broadcast assignment listed among Sunday’s ABC windows.
