Flau'jae Johnson Traded to Seattle Storm in 2026 WNBA Draft Night Shocker

Forty minutes after the Golden State Valkyries picked Flau'jae Johnson eighth overall in the 2026 WNBA Draft, the rookie from LSU was moved to Washington. The Seattle Storm proposed a deal for the LSU star, sending second-rounder Marta Suárez and a 2028 second-round pick to Golden State in exchange for Johnson's rights.
It was one of those rare draft-night twists that left the crowd in New York buzzing and Johnson flashing that familiar grin on stage with her family.

The 5-10 guard closed her college career on a high note in Baton Rouge. In her senior season, she averaged 14.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game while shooting 46.5 percent from the field across 35 starts. She hit double figures 27 times, dropped nine 20-point games, and helped LSU set an NCAA record with 16 games of 100 points or more.
A two-time first-team All-SEC pick and third-team All-American, Johnson leaves as a 2023 national champion, a 2,000-point scorer, and one of the program's all-time winners.
Seattle GM Talisa Rhea called her "dynamic, creative and explosive." For Johnson, it's the start of something new after four electric years in purple and gold. If her college track record is any guide, she'll make an instant impact in the Pacific Northwest and the Storm could be better for it.
