Germany Extends Winning Streak With 2-1 Victory Over United States in Final World Cup Tune-Up
Germany defeated the United States 2-1 on June 6 at Soldier Field in Chicago, using goals from Kai Havertz and Leroy Sané to close out its World Cup preparations with a ninth straight victory. Antonee Robinson scored the lone goal for the U.S., leveling the match with a first-half volley after Havertz had opened the scoring.
The key moment came in the 57th minute when Sané finished Germany's winning goal after a tightly contested opening hour. The Americans generated chances late and matched Germany's intensity for long stretches, but were unable to find a second equalizer in front of a sold-out crowd of 63,636.

The result nonetheless provided a final test for both squads before the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The United States now turns its attention to its Group D opener against Paraguay on June 12 in Los Angeles, followed by matches against Australia on June 19 and Türkiye on June 25. Germany opens Group E play against Curaçao on June 14 in Houston before facing Ivory Coast on June 20 and Ecuador on June 25.
