LSU Pulls Away Late to Top Louisiana Tech 87–61 in Compete 4 Cause Classic
NEW ORLEANS — No. 5 LSU women’s basketball overcame a slow start and pulled away late to defeat Louisiana Tech 87–61 on Saturday night at the Smoothie King Center, improving to 11–0 on the season. The Tigers found themselves in a tight battle early, trailing after the first quarter and struggling to fully separate through much of the third period. That changed when LSU unleashed a decisive 17–3 run spanning the end of the third quarter and the opening minutes of the fourth, swinging momentum and putting the game out of reach.

Senior guard Mikaylah Williams led LSU with a game-high 19 points, providing timely scoring as the Tigers found their rhythm. Flau’jae Johnson delivered a strong all-around performance with 13 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double, while Kate Koval added 13 points and protected the rim with four blocks. MiLaysia Fulwiley gave LSU a spark off the bench, scoring eight of her 10 points in the fourth quarter. Louisiana Tech was led by Paris Bradley, who finished with 19 points and seven rebounds, while Jianna Morris chipped in 11 points in a competitive effort from the Lady Techsters.
Louisiana Tech held a 19–17 edge after the opening quarter and stayed within striking distance for much of the first three quarters before LSU’s depth and defensive pressure took over late. The Tigers controlled the tempo down the stretch, turning stops into transition baskets to seal the win. LSU will return home to continue non-conference play as it builds toward SEC competition, while Louisiana Tech looks ahead to its next matchup as it prepares for conference action.
