In an emotional afternoon at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center, No. 2 seed LSU cruised past No. 7 seed Texas Tech 101-47 on Sunday in the second round of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament. It marked senior Flau’jae Johnson’s final game at the PMAC, and she went out in style as the Tigers set an NCAA record for the most 100-point games in a single season. LSU dominated from start to finish in front of their home crowd, advancing to the Sweet 16 with a commanding performance.
Flau’jae Johnson and Mikaylah Williams combined for 48 points to lead the charge. Johnson finished with 24 points on 9-of-13 shooting, adding four rebounds, three assists and two steals in her last appearance at the PMAC. Williams matched her with 24 points (9-of-15), while pulling down seven rebounds and dishing out four assists. The duo powered a relentless LSU offense that exploded for 33 points in the third quarter alone while holding Texas Tech to just seven.
With the historic victory and another dominant March showing, LSU has firmly established itself as a Final Four threat. Johnson’s memorable final home game capped off an unforgettable era at the PMAC, while the Tigers now turn their attention to the Sweet 16.
