At Homestead-Miami Speedway, WNBA superstar Breanna Stewart, along with Unrivaled League players Dijonai Carrington and Marina Mabrey, inspected the No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet driven by Alex Bowman. The car, set to race in the NASCAR Cup Series on March 23, sported a unique pink and teal paint scheme celebrating Ally’s partnerships with both NASCAR and the Unrivaled League, a new three-on-three women’s basketball league co-founded by Stewart. “I’m so excited,” Stewart said, marveling at the car and her pace car ride, while Carrington noted, “I have so much respect for [the drivers] … We definitely want to come back (for the race).”
That evening, Bowman and his team attended Unrivaled League games in Miami, impressed by the high-energy atmosphere and the league’s role in allowing top women’s basketball players to earn a living domestically during the WNBA offseason. Ally, a sponsor of both Bowman’s car and the league, aims for a 50-50 media spending balance between men’s and women’s sports—a goal they’re nearing after just three years. “It’s never been a men versus women thing,” said Ally Chief Marketing Officer Andrea Brimmer, emphasizing the rising popularity of women’s sports and the potential for cross-sport fan engagement.
The car’s design by artist Sophia Chang featured a Miami skyline, a dribbling female player, and phrases like “Women’s Sports” and “Leaders,” blending NASCAR and basketball narratives. Stewart praised Ally’s commitment, saying, “They walk the walk and talk the talk … equally investing 50 percent in men’s and women’s sports is incredibly special.” The collaboration showcased mutual admiration between elite athletes, with Bowman noting, “Anyone that operates at a high level in their profession is really cool for me to see."
