No. 23 Louisville defeated No. 16 SMU 41-31 on Saturday in Louisville, with Keyjuan Brown rushing for a career-high 163 yards and two touchdowns. Lincoln Kienholz threw for 177 yards and two touchdowns and added a rushing score, while SMU running back Kendrick Raphael rushed for 197 yards and three touchdowns in the loss.
The teams traded the lead eight times before Louisville took control late. Brown broke loose for a 53-yard touchdown with 7:03 remaining to put the Cardinals ahead 35-31, and Isaac Brown added a 27-yard touchdown with 5:32 left to complete the scoring.
SMU quarterback Kevin Jennings finished 24 of 34 for 222 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. The Mustangs generated 479 total yards, including 257 on the ground, but Louisville answered with 265 rushing yards and finished the game with 442 total yards.
SMU, now 2-1 overall and 1-1 in ACC play, returns home Saturday to host Missouri State at Gerald J. Ford Stadium at 8 p.m. CT. Louisville, also 2-1 and 1-0 in the ACC, hosts Wake Forest Saturday at noon ET.
