Paige Bueckers made WNBA history Saturday, reaching 1,515 points through her first two professional seasons as the Dallas Wings defeated the Phoenix Mercury 87-82. Bueckers scored 26 points, including 20 in the first half, while Arike Ogunbowale added 22 points and six assists. Phoenix received a triple-double from Alyssa Thomas, who finished with 19 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists.
Bueckers passed Seimone Augustus' previous mark of 1,513 points, establishing the league record for most points scored by a player through the first two seasons of a WNBA career. She reached the mark while helping Dallas win its sixth straight game and move to 26-16.
The record came during a strong stretch for Bueckers, who has reached the 20-point mark 24 times this season, the fourth-most such games in the league. She finished Saturday's game 10 of 19 from the field and made five 3-pointers.
Dallas and Phoenix meet again Monday at Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix at 9 p.m. CT. The Wings then close the regular season Wednesday at Seattle, while the Mercury host Las Vegas on Thursday.
