Rams Shut Out Saints 34-0 as Stetson Bennett Shines in Preseason

The Los Angeles Rams shut out the New Orleans Saints 34-0 on Saturday at SoFi Stadium, with Stetson Bennett throwing for 181 yards and rushing for two touchdowns in the victory. Alex Cook added a 100-yard interception return for a touchdown, while the Rams built a 20-0 halftime lead and improved to 2-0 in the preseason. The Saints fell to 0-2.

New Orleans struggled to generate offense and committed three turnovers, including two in the red zone. Spencer Rattler finished 14 of 23 for 141 yards and an interception, while Zach Wilson went 6 of 12 for 55 yards with a pick. The Saints were also penalized 12 times for 96 yards, and Tanner Brown missed a 39-yard field-goal attempt that would have prevented the shutout.

Bennett played the entire first half and completed 19 of 31 passes while leading four scoring drives. “I think (Bennett) is just getting better and better,” Rams coach Sean McVay said. “I thought he made some really good decisions, he got through some progressions, and then I loved that he used his legs.”

The Saints will finish the preseason Friday, Aug. 28, at the Dallas Cowboys. The Rams will close their preseason Thursday, Aug. 27, against the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium.
