Spain Shuts Out France to Reach First World Cup Final Since 2010

Spain advanced to the 2026 FIFA World Cup final with a 2-0 victory over France on Tuesday in Dallas, getting goals from Mikel Oyarzabal and Pedro Porro to end France's title hopes. Oyarzabal converted a 22nd minute penalty after a foul on Lamine Yamal, and Porro doubled the lead in the 58th minute after combining with Dani Olmo. France, led by Kylian Mbappé, was unable to break through a disciplined Spanish defense as Luis de la Fuente's side controlled the semifinal from start to finish.

Spain dictated possession and limited France's attacking opportunities throughout the match, while a first half injury forced French defender William Saliba off after 30 minutes. Porro's finish effectively settled the contest before Spain comfortably managed the closing stages to secure its first World Cup final appearance in 16 years.

"We faced one of the best national teams in the world, but in front of them they had the best team in the world," De la Fuente said after the match. "In a team, we are unbeatable."

Spain will play the winner of the Argentina-England semifinal in Sunday's FIFA World Cup final at New York New Jersey Stadium. France will face the loser of that semifinal in Saturday's third place match at Miami Stadium.
