Ole Miss Stuns Georgia in Sugar Bowl Classic Advance to CFP Semifinal

NEW ORLEANS — Ole Miss delivered one of the most thrilling wins of bowl season, knocking off Georgia 39 to 34 in the Sugar Bowl on New Year’s night at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
After trailing by nine at halftime, the Rebels flipped the momentum with a dominant second half and a wild fourth quarter. Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss carved up the Georgia defense, throwing for over 360 yards and two touchdowns while leading a late surge that erased the deficit and put the Rebels in position to steal the game.
With the score tied at 34 late in the fourth quarter, freshman kicker Lucas Carneiro calmly connected on a 47 yard field goal with six seconds remaining. Georgia’s final kickoff went out of bounds, resulting in a safety that officially sealed the win and sent Ole Miss fans into a frenzy.

The victory completed a statement performance for Ole Miss, snapping Georgia’s strong postseason run and avenging an earlier loss from the regular season. Now 13 and 1, the Rebels advance to the College Football Playoff semifinals, where they will face Miami in the Fiesta Bowl after a Sugar Bowl classic that lived up to the moment.
