Wings defeat Storm in first Azzi Fudd and Flau'jae matchup

The Dallas Wings improved to 6-3 on Monday night with a 79-56 victory over the Seattle Storm at College Park Center in Arlington. Rookie Aziaha James led Dallas with 18 points off the bench, while Paige Bueckers finished with 10 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Jessica Shepard added nine points, eight rebounds and six assists. For Seattle, rookie Flau'jae Johnson recorded 16 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.

Dallas took control with its defense, holding Seattle scoreless for the opening four minutes of both halves and limiting the Storm to 56 points. The Wings led 36-25 at halftime before pulling away after the break. Seattle struggled to find offensive rhythm throughout the night, while James provided a spark in the second half with 15 of her 18 points after intermission. 

Bueckers scored all 10 of her points in the first half to help Dallas build its early cushion. The Wings outrebounded Seattle 48-36 and continued the momentum from recent victories over New York and Las Vegas, extending their winning streak to three games.

Dallas returns to action Friday when it visits the Los Angeles Sparks in a Commissioner’s Cup matchup. Seattle continues its road trip with its next game against the Phoenix Mercury on Friday as the Storm look to rebound from their fourth loss in five games.
