Paige Bueckers, Dallas Wings Roll Past Mystics for First Home Win, 92-69
The Dallas Wings earned their first home victory of the season Monday night, beating the Washington Mystics 92-69 at College Park Center in Arlington. Paige Bueckers led Dallas with 18 points and seven assists, while Arike Ogunbowale added 16 points and Jessica Shepard finished with 12 points and 16 rebounds. Shakira Austin paced Washington with 12 points as the Mystics fell to 2-2 on the season.
Dallas took control in the third quarter, turning a single-digit halftime lead into a runaway game with a dominant defensive stretch. The Wings outscored Washington 28-17 in the period and finished with 30 assists on 33 made field goals. Bueckers scored 13 of her 18 points after halftime and connected on four of five shots from 3-point range, while Dallas placed five players in double figures.
Azzi Fudd and Awak Kuier provided a strong lift off the bench for Dallas, combining for efficient scoring and defensive pressure as the Wings limited Washington’s young frontcourt throughout the second half. Shepard also added six assists in one of Dallas’ most complete performances of the early season.
The Wings improved to 2-2 and continue their road trip Wednesday against the Chicago Sky. Washington also dropped to 2-2 and heads west for a matchup with the Seattle Storm in its next game.
