Paige Bueckers Records Double Double as Wings Rally Past Sky for Fifth Straight Win
The Dallas Wings erased a seven point deficit entering the fourth quarter to defeat the Chicago Sky 96-91 on Sunday night at American Airlines Center. Paige Bueckers finished with 22 points and 11 assists for her third career double double, while Jessica Shepard posted 19 points and 10 rebounds. Arike Ogunbowale added 17 points, Azzi Fudd scored 16, and Li Yueru came off the bench with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Sydney Taylor led Chicago with 20 points, Azura Stevens had 18 points and 13 rebounds, Natasha Cloud scored 15 points, and Kamilla Cardoso added 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Chicago took a 73-66 lead into the fourth after outscoring Dallas 33-20 in the third quarter, but the Wings responded with a 30-18 final period to complete the comeback. Bueckers controlled the offense throughout the closing minutes, Dallas shot 48 percent from the field, and the Wings finished with 23 assists on 36 made baskets while forcing the Sky into six turnovers. The victory completed a season sweep of Chicago and extended Dallas' winning streak to five games.
Bueckers continued her strong rookie campaign by matching a career high with 11 assists while adding six rebounds and a block in 36 minutes. Shepard recorded her ninth double double of the season, and Yueru provided a spark off the bench with a game best plus 17 in 23 minutes as Dallas improved with another balanced offensive performance.
The Wings continue their four game homestand Tuesday when they host the Seattle Storm. The Sky remain on the road and will visit the Phoenix Mercury on Tuesday looking to snap their losing skid.
