The Dallas Wings rolled past the Connecticut Sun 97-71 on Sunday night at College Park Center, earning their fourth straight win heading into the WNBA’s FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup break. Arike Ogunbowale led Dallas with 18 points, while Jessica Shepard added 17 points and 10 rebounds. Paige Bueckers finished with 15 points and six assists, and Maddy Siegrist scored 11. Connecticut was led by Aaliyah Edwards, who tied her career high with 26 points, while Charlisse Leger-Walker added 17.
Dallas took control early after Connecticut briefly grabbed an 11-10 lead. Bueckers answered with a basket 11 seconds later, putting the Wings back in front for good. Dallas led 60-47 at halftime before pulling away with a 23-12 third quarter. Shepard recorded her 22nd double-double of the season, extending the Wings franchise record, while Dallas improved to 24-16 and moved into a three-way tie with New York and Washington for sixth place.
The victory also completed Dallas’ three-game season sweep of Connecticut. The Wings have now won four consecutive games and clinched a playoff berth earlier this week, giving the franchise its first postseason appearance since 2023. The Sun dropped to 10-30 with the loss.
Both teams will now pause for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup break. Dallas returns Sept. 17 at home against the Los Angeles Sparks, while Connecticut travels to face the Atlanta Dream that same day.
