The Dallas Wings enter the WNBA playoffs against the Golden State Valkyries after finishing the regular season at 27-17, the best record in franchise history. Dallas closed with a 103-91 win over Seattle behind 25 points from Paige Bueckers, 23 from Arike Ogunbowale and Jessica Shepard’s sixth triple-double of the season, 20 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists. Golden State finished 32-12 and secured the No. 2 seed with a 76-75 comeback win over Los Angeles, led by Kaitlyn Chen’s 18 points and Veronica Burton’s 17.
The Valkyries will enter the series with momentum after rallying from a 12-point deficit in the final four minutes against the Sparks. Chen scored 14 of her 18 points in the fourth quarter, while Gabby Williams scored eight points in the final 90 seconds of the comeback. Williams finished the regular season as Golden State’s leading scorer at 14.4 points per game. Bueckers averaged 20.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 5.9 assists for Dallas.
The first-round series is a best-of-three, with Golden State holding home-court advantage. Game 1 is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 27, at Chase Center. The WNBA has listed the game in its Prime Video first-round broadcast window, with the specific matchup time subject to the league’s final schedule.
